Douglas aircrafts
Model DC-3

DNL operated 13 different Douglas DC-3 aircrafts between 1946 and 1948.
From August 1, 1948, all listed registrations below were transferred to SAS.
Registrations used were:

LN-IAF, LN-IAG, LN-IAH, LN-IAI, LN-IAK, LN-IAL, LN-IAM, LN-IAN, LN-IAO, LN-IAP,
LN-IAR, LN-IAS, LN-IAT

In the collection 2 of the 13 aircrafts are represented.

Douglas DC-3 LN-IAL

Construction number 20562.
Bought from the US Army Air Force in October 1947. Registered at DNL given the name Nordlys.
In service until August 1948 when it was transferred to SAS (still owned and registerred by DDL though).

Junkers Ju-52

DNL operated 4 different Junkers Ju-52 aircrafts between 1936 and 1948.
From August 1, 1948, two of the listed registrations below (marked with an *) were transferred to SAS.
Registrations used were:

LN-DAE (Havørn)
LN-DAF (Najaden)* [->LN-KAG Vesslefrikk]
LN-DAH (Falken)* [->LN-KAF Askeladden]
LN-DAI (Hauken)

Junkers Ju-52 LN-DAH

Construction number 5489.
Bought from Deutsche Lufthansa and registered at DNL July 1 1936 given the name Falken.
Was taken by German forces 1940 and given the old registration D-AQUI.
Found after the war 1945, renovated and put into Norwegian military service. Ownership transfered back to DNL in april 1946 registered LN-KAF and given the name Askeladden. The airframe were replaces during a long maintenance 1947. Due to this a new c/n 130714 was assigned.
In service until August 1948 when it was transferred to SAS (still owned and registerred by DDL though).

DNL operated 1 Junkers W34 hi aircraft between 19365 and 1940.
Most likely seized by the Germans 1940. Anyway, the aircraft was destroyed during the war and registrations was cancelled 1946.

Short Sandringham Mk VI

DNL operated 5 different Short Sandingham aircrafts between 1947 and 1948.
From August 1, 1948, two of the listed registrations below (marked with an *) were transferred to SAS.
Registrations used were:

LN-IAU, LN-IAV, LN-IAW
LN-LAI*, LN-LMK*

In the collection 2 of the 5 aircrafts are represented.

Short Sandringham Mk VI LN-IAU

Construction number SH 882.
Delivered new from Short Brothers Ltd in June 1947 and named "Bamse Brakar".
In service until May 1950 when it was damaged beyond repair when it encounterd engine problems duirng takeoff from Harstad and crashed.

Construction number SH 71/C (C for Conversion).
Originally used by Royal Air Force from 1943. After the WWII deliverd back by RAF to Short Brothers for conversion Sandringham Mk VI.
Delivered from Short Brothers Ltd in June 1949 and named "Polarbjørn". Eventually painted in SAS colours.
In service until October 1951. Sold 1955 to Aerolineas Argentinas and registered LV-PAE.

This is a Flight Report issued during the aircraft's
SAS period. When this report was written it's only 4 months remaining until the aircraft's days in SAS/DNL colours are over.
